If the woman wishes to have permanent contraception by means of tubal closure, she now has the possibility with hysteroscopy of a device called ESSURE that can be applied in an outpatient clinic, without even local anaesthesia, in about 15-20 minutes with less discomfort than with the introduction of an IUD (coil)
For about two years now, however, it has been taken off the market, apparently for market reasons (insufficient economic yield for the company that produces it) and because of the appearance of side effects in a few women around the world out of about one million applications. If symptoms appear such as frequent abdominal pain, uncomfortable abdominal cramps, shortly after application, one must contact the person who inserted it, remembering that the only solution is the removal of the tubes by laparoscopy as Essure cannot be removed hysteroscopically.
AT THE MOMENT, THE ONLY WAY TO PERFORM TUBAR STERILISATION IS TO PERFORM A SALPINGECTOMY OR PARTIAL TUBE RESEECTION BY LAPAROSCOPIC VIA AND UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA
